White-collar crime busters

Too many employers and employees behave as if they were above the law. If you physically rob someone and are caught, the chances are that you will go to prison. In recent years mugging someone out of their savings or their pension would probably earn you a yacht.”

But the heat may be on, from fraudbusters Clive Mackintosh an investigative lawyer, and Tracey Parry an investigative accountant. Between them they have uncovered multi-million-pound insurance scams, frauds and corruption at director level.

Their work has stopped millions of pounds from disappearing. There work is all about trust and confidentiality and the Liverpool based solicitors, are believed to be the only firm in the country that specialises in investigating private corruption.

Part of the rise in corruption can be put down to detection. When the economy is good, people are less likely to worry about where the money is coming from or ask awkward questions. But when times are tight people look more closely. Bribery and corruption were not only more likely to become apparent in a recession, they are more likely to be committed

Mackintosh and Parry are increasingly being sought by companies when they realise that someone, somewhere, is creaming off the profits. The duo have never been busier and are now handling on average 12 large scale investigations a year.
