Police seize World Cup trophy made of cocaine
Colombia's National Police have seized a replica of the World Cup soccer trophy, made entirely out of cocaine. The South American authorities seized the 14-inch replica bound for Madrid at Bogota Airport on Saturday.
The statue was painted gold with green stripes on the base and was engraved to look like a replica copy.
It was destined for an address in Madrid Spain, when it was intercepted in a warehouse in Bogota Airport.
Colombian National Police said the poor condition of the gold paint on the trophy's surface is what raised their suspicions about the trophy. The replica ‘cocaine’ trophy was worth more than the original trophys weight in gold. The original is cast in solid 18-carat gold, but weighs about ten pounds less.
