'Robin Hood' legal clerk gave cash to clients

A Self-styled 'Robin Hood' solicitor's clerk who used company money to pay her clients' debts has been allowed to continue working at a Rotherham practice despite her dishonesty.

Julie Grant, made four separate payments to clients while working for firm Parker Rhodes in Moorgate Street, Rotherham, including paying one couple's stamp duty and giving compensation payments to clients she thought had missed out.

A Solicitors' Disciplinary Tribunal in London heard that Grant, of Hall Drive, Newhill in Wath, played a "Robin Hood" role by making payments to "distressed" clients she felt had been hard done by.
