Live Translation in deal coup

A Yorkshire translation company has secured a deal with software giant Microsoft to deliver the world's first real-time translation service powered by professional translators across the internet.

Batley-based Live Translation has launched its service through Microsoft's Windows Live Translator in a deal potentially worth millions of pounds.

Microsoft already offers a free computerised translation service via http://translator.live.com, but visitors to the site will now be able to select the option to upgrade from machine translation to one carried out by a professional human translator through Live Translation.

Former Huddersfield University student Mr Perks said: "It's wonderful to be recognised by the world's leading software supplier as a company who can offer a service to their millions of customers."

"It's testament to the quality of our service, our investment in technology and all the hard work that has gone into building the service over the last three years. We are a relatively small business so to get this deal is excellent."

Lane Rau, marketing manager for machine translation at Microsoft, added: "We want to provide our users with maximum choice to address all of their online translation needs.
